Inspiration
Damian, one of our teammates, suffered an injury requiring him to get surgery. He explained the difficulties of keeping contact with the surgeon post surgery and the processes after, so we created this application.
Company Challenge
Arthrex: Building an application that supports Arthrex's mission of "Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better"
What it does
The patient logs into the system with their email, password, and name. From there, they enter the date they had their surgery and then the date that they will come back to meet with their surgeon. From there, they will enter all the symptoms they have within the time they had the surgery. It will give back information from a database on how to handle the symptoms based on what the user inputs. The user will have a dashboard of all the information they have given. The surgeon the logs into the system with their email and password. From there, they have a dashboard with all of the patient information with a review of the input they have given on their symptoms and the severity.
How we built it
We used React on VScode and SupaBase for the database.
Challenges we ran into
Since this is all of our first Hackathon, one of the challenges we faced was figuring out how to connect the database and the front end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a working website that is connected with the database
What we learned
- Creating a frontend user interactive system
- Creating a database with all user information
- Using API keys to connect the frontend and database
- Using git with a team
What's next for Post Surgery App
Working on having more secure database that fit the HIPAA laws specific to Florida. Integrating the system into the Arthrex ecosystem.
