Poslu; an AI chatbot for restaurant websites. When customers call and are put on hold, they can use the chatbot. Chat options relate to menu items, making reservations, or other restaurant inquiries.

Inspiration

Often times, a customer will call a restaurant to ask about menu items, operating hours, or to make a reservation, only to get put on hold, because another customer is on the line. What if a customer had the option to use an AI chatbot to get information about inquiries that were meant for the restaurant employees? I came up with an AI chatbot called "Poslu" as the solution.

What it does

Poslu is an AI chatbot meant to answer customer inquiries if they cannot reach a restaurant employee over the phone. Poslu means "at work" in the Croatian language. Authenticated restaurant employees can customize the chat options that the customer can choose from.

How I built it

I built a demo restaurant website for Kruger Cuisine and it shows how the Poslu AI chatbot can be integrated. I used Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to structure the website, and the presentation aspect of the website is done with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). I intend to incorporate some back-end aspects in the future once I deepen my knowledge of the back-end programming languages.

Challenges I ran into

This is the first restaurant website I built using HTML and CSS, so I still have room for improvements in terms of my front-end web development skills. The Poslu AI chatbot requires back-end programming. If I partnered with a back-end developer, I believe this challenge can be resolved.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I tried my hand at creating a restaurant website for Kruger Cuisine using HTML/CSS, and I like how it turned out considering this is the first website I have built. In addition, I was able to come up with the AI chatbot solution that can be incorporated into restaurant websites. It just needs some back-end programming knowledge. I gained extremely valuable experience from this project.

What I learned

I learned that I still have a lot more to learn about front-end web development. I had fun and enjoyed creating the restaurant website for Kruger Cuisine. I will be sharpening my web development skills by making more websites for different industries other than the restaurant industry.

What's next for Poslu AI for the Restaurant Industry

The Poslu AI chatbot requires back-end programming. Once the back-end is taken care of, the Poslu AI chatbot can be deployed to official restaurant websites. I believe the Poslu AI chatbot will be a big step towards more efficient day-to-day functions in the restaurant industry.
