Inspiration
I've been using the same set of tools for a while and saw this as a nice chance to shake things up a bit! I've always wanted to try building a backend with Rust or Golang but that little blue gopher won this time.
What it does
It reads out a short motivational message to a caller.
How we built it
I used Twilio voice service to play a short motivational message everytime a demotivated gym goer calls. There's a Twiml app that sends a request to the Go backend to fetch a motivational message that is then read out to the caller. I used Google Cloud Platform App Engine to host the Go Backend and Cloudflare Pages for the mini landing page.
Challenges we ran into
This was my first time using Go so it took a little effort to understand how to accept requests and configure the responses.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I felt super awesome when I made a successful http request with Go 😁
What we learned
I learnt how to accept HTTP requests using Go & how to host a Go backend on App Engine! Woot Woot! 🚂
What's next for Motivation as a Service
I want to add some motivational voice clips from popular shows/animes and add call options (e.g: Press 1 to get motivated, Press 2 to get celebrated etc)
