We wanted to make a project to eliminate cyberbullying online and promote social positivity.
Our project basically detects whenever negative words are used in a sentence and it sends a message to encourage users to be more friendly online.
We built our project by using a list of all the negative words in a dictionary and converting it to a text file. We then linked it to our code in Java and added text so the chat is interactive.
A big challenge we ran into was that we both code in different languages. I mainly know python while Christina knows Java. We had to try and find a middle-way gateway so that we were both able to understand what we were doing.
An accomplishment we are proud of is attempting to code a project and actually coming up with an idea because this is both our first time.
We learned that it is always great to ask for help whenever we need it. This project was not by our own doing, but with the help of different mentors, and sponsors, we were able to get our project to work.
We hope to make Posibot an extension in the future so we are able to connect it with other social media apps.
