Inspiration

We were inspired because many people (our team members) have issues with taking photos and want to make memories. For instance, a lot of peoples photo library's are empty or filled with meaningless pictures. We want to change this so people can have more photos or digital media to look back on. Also many people often have empty Instagram accounts and may wish to have funny photos to post. This app is there for you to develop ideas for photos to make them more memorable or even portable on social media. It also has photography tips to help you learn to take better photos.

What it does

PosePal GIVES YOU fun, trendy, and creative prompts so you don’t have to think! 🧠✨ βœ… No more standing awkwardly, waiting for inspiration. βœ… No more "Uhh… what do I do now?" moments. βœ… JUST FUN, CREATIVE PHOTOS THAT ACTUALLY LOOK GOOD.

Instead of random, useless photos, you’ll have cool, aesthetic, memory-worthy shots. πŸ€©πŸ“Έ

How we built it

The most challenging part would definitely been the brainstorming of the idea for the app. Additionally, once we had the general idea down, I would say the next hardest part would have to have been determining the general UX and layout of the app as the UI would come last. Once we had these guidelines in place, we started coding the app in Swift as we wanted to build the app for ios devices and the rest is done.

Challenges we ran into

IOS has a lot of permissions and keys particularly with photos and cameras and getting that to work was interesting to say the least as Apple has been updating swift and changing around how these permissions are granted.

Another challenge we ran into was the connection to Omnistack and integrating the backend with the frontend. The backend would consist of, storing user data, images as well as prompts generated by Omnistack.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building an app that has rudimentary functionality and is able to do its general purpose of pulling prompts generated by Omnistack and giving it to a user on the IOS app.

What we learned

We learned much about Omnistack and how to create responses and give it queries. Additionally, we learned a little about Swift as well as UI/UX design as that is something often forgotten in the field of Computer Science and software engineering.

What's next for PosePal

Launching it to a wider user base, potentially adding more functionality for users to engage with other users. We also want to add video support and a camera that incorporates itself with the app to encourage users to take photos more as psychologically holding a camera makes users more inclined to take photos.
