Inspiration

We have this idea based on our personal experience. As visual information can be processed much faster and easier by the human brain compares to written information, having such features can help local people to identify the target more efficiently. Within a short time frame, criminals are not likely to have the opportunity to change their cloth. Most victims we asked could not remember details of criminals, but they could recall their cloth. Therefore we only focus on the major visual features of the target instead of details to improve efficiency. Users can save the image for feature references, they can also share the image on apps like Wildfires so local people can be aware as well.

What it does

An android app that helps victims who suffered assault from a stranger quickly assemble the look of the attacker with a bunch of pre-dawn components.

How we built it

Project is built in Android studio, UI design is finished in SAI

Challenges we ran into

Figure out the process layout. Element arrangement in the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

There is basically no bug. The UI design is neat and lit. We accomplished the features we originally needed.

What we learned

Utilizing different views provided by Android Studio, for example, GridView. Organizing and arranging elements through the whole layout.

What's next for Portrait

Polishing the actual app UI features. Adding more assets.

We hope to see

The app is able to make the targeting process more efficient.
The app can be used by organizations like the Police Department or the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, etc. We are looking forward to connecting our idea to mainstream media apps to improve social impacts. We hope to gather more social attention to support victims.
