Inspiration

The project was inspired by our struggles in applying for universities and internships without proper guidance or knowing what to do next.

What it does

Portify analyzes applications, resumes, essays, and cover letters and displays the strengths and weaknesses of the file and suggests recommendations for future improvement.

How we built it

We used React and a global CSS stylesheet for the frontend, Node.js for the backend, Google's Gemini API key for the AI, and SQLite for the database.

Challenges we ran into

Consistent merge conflicts from working too much in parallel with each other.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Managed to ship a fully working and polished MVP alongside a landing page and working account system.

What we learned

In effectively one day, we learnt how to manage our time well and use Git and GitHub for collaborative workflow and working in parallel.

What's next for Portify

Deployment beyond localhost and monetizing the product via subscriptions.
