Inspiration πŸš€

When it comes to inspiration we majorly added all the stuff by brainstorming but at the same time, we made sure our portfolio doesn't get left behind in any manner. So we took in all the important features at the same time added a few from our side too.

What it does

So our motive was to make the portfolio as informative as possible, but at the same time, we need to make sure our design and responsiveness must be eye catchy and accurate respectively.

Changes we made βš™οΈ

We started with making the UI as good and eye-catchy as possible, But at the same time, we made sure our design must be formal.

The first change we made was by adding a slight UI change on the user's profile image.

Later on, we went on with making the user name animating, such that it provides a dynamic feel

The main use of a portfolio is to know a persons skill and their achievements. Once the viewer finds it up to the mark they need to know whether the user is available for a job or not. So we went on with adding an "open for job" status on the portfolio. Now the users can show their status whether they are available for the job or not.

It might seem a small feature, but when it comes to productivity and time saving this feature turns out to be really needy. The viewer can know the job status of the user with just a glance rather than knowing it after contacting them. How cool it is right✨

The next issue on which we worked is the responsiveness of the portfolio. This particular issue seems to be really simple on hearing since the direct visibility of this feature can only be compared when tried on with devices of various sizes. But it was really important for us to make the portfolio responsive because we never know on which device the portfolio is been streamed. In this world of devices with n combination of sizes, it was really tough for us to make the portfolio to fit every device. Since this feature is really important with future prospects we worked on it and made the portfolio fully responsive. And we are glad of that. Now no more worry about responsiveness, we have got the back.

How we built it πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’»

The styling part is done with HTML and SCSS and the underhood works are done with Ruby.

Challenges we ran into πŸ˜…

  1. Our PR count might not significant but making everyone's changes responsive was the biggest hurdle in front of us. With every other PR merge, we were supposed to make sure the portfolio is responsive.
  2. Handling the merge conflict every now and then was a tough part. With n number of new feature addition, it was tough for us to handle the conflicts. But we tried our best and did it.
  3. Our team never used ruby so local development environment setup was difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of ❀️

We are proud that our end result is an amazing portfolio that anyone can use to make a beautiful step to achieve their career.

What we learned

With this one project, we learned a bunch of new things.

  1. Basics of Ruby
  2. Saas, CSS
  3. Refactoring

What's next for Portfolio Website 🚩

  1. To make it more customizable, for eg user can select the color schema
  2. Add a feature to have a quick glance at users projects (using demo video)
  3. Make a feature to book an appointment with the user.
