Inspiration
My inspiration came from Windows XP and MySpace. I wanted to bring some nostalgia to people viewing my portfolio.
What it does
It presents a screen similar to Windows XP, allowing you to click on the apps on the desktop to open them and explore. If someone wants to work with me in future hackathons or see some of my projects without downloading them of github, he can go onto this website and see what I am capable of. I also created it so that it would be easy to add some new apps in the future, maybe a wall of memories from hackathons, or if I had a group, with which I was looking for a new member, it would be nice to have all of our information there.
How I built it
I used React with Typescript, and added framer-motion for better animations.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was animating the apps. Initially, minimizing the apps caused the animations and the app to break, but I managed to resolve this issue and get them working smoothly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Probably the design, I didn't had the time to make everything perfect but I did my best. I'm also proud of all the functionalities that made the project work.
What we learned
I've learned how to manage the animation and improve my useEffect functions. This was also my first solo project using typescript, so I'm really happy about that.
What's next for Portfolio | Oskar Michalik
Idk, I'm gonna ask my friends and if they like it, and then maybe I'm going to polish it ( hehe, I'm Polish ), host it and use it as our portfolio in the future hackathons.
