Inspiration
Investing should be done early on in life, but many college students don't know how to because a lot of resources overcomplicate how to invest. Our application tries to make this task less daunting by offering a platform to test portfolio allocation strategies and to receive feedback based on said strategies in the form of explanations of important considerations that need to be made for certain portfolio allocations.
What it does
You give it a list of stocks and it analyzes then and gives feedback. For example, one example of feedback may be explaining the need for diversification and why it is important.
How we built it
React for the front end, Flask for the backend, and MongoDB for the database. We also used a stock API to get information about different stock tickers
Challenges we ran into
Cross platform development was a bit challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to build the app, I think that's cool.
What we learned
React, Flask
What's next for Portfolio Metrics Analyzer
There is a whole discussion to be had about modern portfolio theory, and we could incorporate some more interesting metrics into the analyzer for deeper analysis.
