A personal portfolio that feels more like opening a game console than reading a résumé, letting visitors explore my projects and interests through a playful hub.

About the Project

I created Portfolio Hub because I had reached a point where I had built quite a few websites, but there was no simple way to view them all in one place. Friends would often forget the individual links or simply did not know which projects I had already created. I wanted to solve that by building a central portfolio where people could easily explore my work and see how my skills and ideas have developed over time.

However, I did not want to create a typical portfolio website where visitors just scroll through a long page and click on a few project cards. I wanted the experience to feel more interactive and memorable.

The idea of using a game-console-inspired interface came to me quite quickly. Consoles often present games and applications as a visual collection that invites users to explore. Each item feels like its own small world, while still being part of one consistent system. I thought this concept would work perfectly for a portfolio, so I started designing my projects as individual channels that users could browse.

From there, the project continued to grow. I gradually added more features inspired by console interfaces.

One of the biggest challenges was making the website feel like a console interface without making it confusing or difficult to use. The design still needed to work with a mouse, keyboard, touchscreen, and controller, as well as on different screen sizes. Another challenge was keeping all of the features consistent. Dark mode, for example, does not only change the colors, but also affects the atmosphere and background music.

I also learned how important clear communication and iteration are when working with AI development tools. A strong result does not come from asking for an entire website in one sentence. It comes from having a clear idea, breaking it into smaller parts, testing each result, and giving detailed feedback when something does not work as expected.

Originally, I did not start this project with the intention of submitting it to OpenAI. During development, I happened to discover that an OpenAI initiative had launched around the same time and was supporting projects with additional credits. I saw this as a great opportunity to continue improving Portfolio Hub and to show what is now possible when human creativity and AI-assisted development work together.

With this project, I also wanted to demonstrate that an AI-assisted website does not have to look generic or have the same “vibe-coded” style as many other projects. AI can help with implementation, but the personality of a project still comes from the human ideas behind it. The concept, visual identity, atmosphere, and small design decisions are what make the final result unique.

Portfolio Hub has made it much easier for me to share my work with others, and it has become a project that I am genuinely proud of.
