Inspiration
We wanted to provide a platform for students of all fields to showcase their portfolios easily.
What it does
Our portfolio site allows users to display a brief description about themselves, their current/past education, previous work experiences, contact information, hobbies, and places they've been to.
How we built it
We used Flask, Jinja, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap to create both the frontend and backend of our website.
Challenges we ran into
Since we had never worked with Jinja before, we had to spend some time researching and trying to understand how it worked. We also never really worked with Flask or external APIs either, but for the latter, our mentor recommended us an opensource map API called Leaflet which helped us in creating our map page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning the technologies mentioned above as well as and creating a pretty and easy-to-use UI in such a short amount of time.
What we learned
We learned how to use Jinja, Leaflet, Bootstrap, and Flask.
What's next for Portfolio Flask App
Some future steps would include adding a page to display a user's projects, creating more jinja templates, and use a database to store user information.
