Inspiration

We wanted to make a virtual friend that you can talk to at any time because school counselors and other professionals are not always available.

What it does

Portel is a chat bot that can help you with your homework, solve general trivia, and maintain your mental stability

How we built it

We used OpenAi's GPT-3 for the chatbot, and flask, html, and css for the website.

Challenges we ran into

• Chatbot gave stupid / dumb responses.
• We had trouble saving a record of the whole conversation for the ai prompt

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• The chatbot spit out beautiful, refined sentences.
• We managed to save an entire record of the conversation for the ai prompt, so that the chatbot could build-off of previous responses.

What we learned

• How to use Flask.
• A drive to learn Svelte (a js framework)

What's next for Portel

• Licensing to big corporations to be used for improving employees' mental health.
• Create a history of user emotions tab to show how users have improved, mentally, since the start of the conversation.
