Inspiration
We were just checking around cool effects with the back camera world tracking using the Spark AR Studio. It's really user friendly and fast. We were exploring the AR library and it had too many things to create with so we downloaded a small room. We saw the portal effects made by people. It looked really cool. So we created one for ourselves. We realised that its way more cooler to explore with your own hand rather than just looking at the video.
What it does
This effect takes you into a small Chinese kitchen with some cool portal effect on your table. You can take your phone into that portal room and check out the kitchen up close.
How we built it
We downloaded the model from the AR library. Used a little bit of Blender to create a 3D model around that room. Then we combined everything in Spark AR Studio by Facebook. Just in 10 mins.
Challenges we ran into
The hiding of the room was a tricky part but thanks to YouTube, we figured it out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an AR Experience for both Android and iOS at a single place is quite impressive and creating an AR experience in such a short time and also submit it makes you feel accomplished. A huge layer of Encapsulation you got there.
What we learned
Creating FaceFilters and World Tracking.
What's next for Portal Room Effect using World Tracking
A huge scaled room so that you can move inside it.
