Inspiration

An estimated 80% of digital camera users suffer from inconveniences with accessing photos from their cameras.

What it does

Portal is a service that automatically uploads photos from the digital camera to a database presented on the platform that can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Unclear photos can be filtered out based on blurriness. Photos can be edited and/or shared on social media platforms all from a single dashboard.

How we built it

Platform uses Canon's CCAPI to automatically fetch media from the digital camera. The content is then stored using Filestack and edited using the Filestack's API.

Challenges we ran into

The unstable WiFi connection at the venue caused for significant latency in media uploading. The CCAPI has limited usages, and caused compatibility issues on MacOS.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Released a functional prototype within the limited time frame, despite challenges.

What we learned

  • Capabilities of digital cameras
  • How to use and implement Filestack & its API

What's next for Portal

To allow cross-platform access with mobile devices.
