Inspiration
The inspiration behind this project is that so many people in regions of the world do not have access to a stable internet connection or a nearby weather station. We decided that we wanted to make a portable weather station made out of cheap components that people could make in low-resource areas and know what their climate is around them. Our specific demographic would-be farmers, who can use this data to determine what they should do for their crops.
What it does
The display is connected to the Arduino and displays the temperature and humidity from the temperature and humidity sensor.
How we built it
We utilized an Arduino grove beginner kit because none of us knew what and how to use an Arduino. Throughout the process, we kept referring to other documentation of the Arduino and were able to connect the Arduino Uno to the temperature and humidity shield and connect the led display provided to us to the Arduino to output the temperature and humidity.
Challenges we ran into
None of us knew how to use an Arduino before the competition. We initially struggled with setting up the Arduino and then correctly wiring the components that needed to be wired to display the temperature and humidity information.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were very proud when we were able to get the display to work and display the information needed.
What we learned
We learned the basics of Arduino and c++ coding.
What's next for Portable, Low Resource Weather Station
We would for better accessibility use a larger LED display. In addition, we would add other components such as a buzzer that would go off if the temperature and the humidity drastically change over the hour in order to accommodate visually impaired users.

Best Beginner Hack Best Overall Hack Best Sustainability hack: We address the issue by utilizing and having a weather station with low cost, low pollution, and a low amount of parts needed. This will also help farmers because they will know their weather conditions and how to efficiently tailor their farming process for their crops Best Healthcare hack: We can utilize the device we made and incorporate it in other medical devices such as a low-resource incubator. The temperature and humidity need to be tracked within the incubator in order to ensure that the baby is still healthy Best Random Hack Most Creative Use of GitHub
