Inspiration

Porta began as a question I couldn’t shake: What if every door in our life opened not to a place, but to a truth we avoided? I wanted to explore that fragile moment between life and its echo, where memory becomes architecture and awareness comes too late.

What it does

The film follows Adam, who awakens inside a world shaped by his unfinished moments. Each door he opens reflects how his need for control became the cage he built for himself.

How we built it

I created Porta using a hybrid AI and filmmaking workflow: Google Gemeni For creative script, Google Veo3, kling and Midjourny for cinematic video, Midjourney for visual concepts, Magnific for refinement and upscale, ElevenLabs for voice, and Flux Context and Nano Banana to maintain tone and continuity and edit the scens. I treated AI as raw footage, shaping every frame through direction, editing, and iterative refinement.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest challenge was making my idea match the tools’ limitations. AI often interprets movement differently than intended. For example, after the character’s accident, I needed him to drag himself realistically with his hands, but the models resisted this motion. I had to fight for every frame to keep the vision accurate, emotional, and human. Another challenge was achieving continuity in a surreal world while working across multiple AI tools with different “logic.”

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Bringing a deeply personal, philosophical idea to life using tools that were never built for this purpose. Creating cinematic consistency across models, and proving that one creator can build a full short film with intention and emotional truth.

What we learned

AI is not a shortcut, it is a collaborator, one that requires clarity, patience, and relentless iteration. I learned that story and emotion must always lead the process, not the tool.

What's next for Porta

Seeing how an idea can become a high quality real film with this workflow, I plan to create more short films and develop full television concepts using the same method. Porta is just the first door.
