Inspiration
Port terminals suffer from fragmented booking workflows, manual approvals, poor visibility on slot availability, and weak coordination between carriers, operators, and drivers. This leads to congestion, delays, and inefficient resource usage. Port Flow was inspired by the need to digitize and streamline terminal booking operations with clear role-based workflows and better operational visibility.
What it does
Port Flow provides a role-based port booking platform where carriers request terminal bookings, operators approve or reject them based on slot availability, and drivers receive confirmed bookings with QR codes and notifications. Admins oversee terminals, users, and system activity. The platform ensures controlled onboarding of carriers through business document verification and enforces capacity constraints at terminals.
How we built it
We designed a modular backend with strict role-based access control and a clear booking lifecycle. Carrier onboarding includes secure document upload to cloud storage with admin validation. A multi-agent AI layer processes natural language requests by classifying intent, decomposing tasks, invoking specialized agents (booking, slots, data), and generating role-aware responses. The system is containerized and built for scalability and observability.
Challenges we ran into
Designing a clean booking lifecycle with strict status transitions.
Enforcing slot capacity without race conditions.
Implementing secure document upload and access control.
Coordinating multi-agent AI execution with backend APIs.
Preventing data leakage across roles while enabling useful dashboards.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
End-to-end booking workflow from carrier registration to driver confirmation.
Secure carrier onboarding with document verification.
Role-based dashboards for operators and admins.
Multi-agent AI orchestration with strong guardrails and auditability.
Clean separation of concerns between booking logic, slot management, and data access.
What we learned
We learned how to model real-world port logistics into strict backend workflows, design RBAC at scale, enforce data confidentiality across roles, and orchestrate multiple AI agents safely around production APIs. We also gained experience in building cloud-native systems with strong observability and security constraints.
What's next for Port Flow
Public terminal availability API.
Advanced conflict detection and booking optimization.
Booking lifecycle extensions (check-in, consumption, cancellation).
Reporting exports and analytics.
External integrations (email/SMS/webhooks, port systems, IoT signals).
