Porchlight Protocol was inspired by my love of survival and horror games, but I wanted to create a survival experience where the main challenge is management, not combat. The player is responsible for running a safehouse during a supernatural blackout, balancing food, medicine, power, morale, shelter space, and trust. Every visitor at the door creates a management decision: can the house afford another person, are they worth the risk, and what happens if the player is wrong? The horror comes from limited resources, difficult tradeoffs, and the pressure of keeping the safehouse alive one night at a time.
