Inspiration
The inspiration came from the issue of how much clothing goes to landfills with only 12-15 percent of it getting recycled.
What it does
Promotes a more sustainable way to shop for clothing while also creating a space for users to create boards to showcase their favorite outfits as inspiration for other users of the app/website.
How we built it
We used Next.js for the front end AND back end, and styling was done with tailwind. We also implemented ai using the Gemma model to analyze the pictures. Supabase was used for authentication and as a database. Vercel was used for deployment. Stripe for payment processing.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing the API for Gemma into our program
Accomplishments that we're proud of
With the use of Gemma we were able to make the creation of tags and descriptions automatic and also made looking for other pieces of similar clothing much more efficient.
What we learned
We learned lots about API keys and how to use them in our program, we also learned to pipeline the output of Gemma into other branches of our program, which resulted in creating tags and descriptions from the analysis of photos.
What's next for POPOFF
Improved accessibility for all users and improvement of a better flow for the whole program.
