Inspiration
Our buddy Matt was disappointed that the super cool flyer inviting him on Facebook to the funnest frat party actually ended up being a waste of time. He grieved to the group about how he would never be able to get those thirty minutes of his life back, and out of sympathy to those who have experienced similar situations, our group created this app to ensure that no one goes through the same mixed emotions as Matt.
What it does
Our app shows users a map of their city, with pinpoints on the main places to go out. We realize that users have different needs and we have catered to those who seek a fun night out. We have factors that critique locations based on Vibes, Lit Level, Price Range. Our app allows users to rate each night how much fun they are having while out or at a party. Users can only vote if they are at the location they are voting for, and voting allows others to see what places are Pop’n.
How I built it
We separated into front end and back end. Back end: I built it with express.js and mongodbs data base node js and angular js. Front end: We used HTML5, CSS3, and bootstrap.
Challenges I ran into
It was difficult to work as a team because we do not all dominate the same languages of code, so there was a lot of last minute learning going on.
Accomplishments that I’m proud of
Being able to present our teamwork and hard work in a visually appealing manner.
What I learned
I learned about many features and new aspects of the code we used.
What’s next for Pop’n
Soon Pop’n will be connected to Facebook and will tell you how many of your friends are at, use the gender feature to calculate the ratio, and recommend places based on friend’s history.
