Pop•a•Shop is a web-based service dedicated to helping reduce the number of vacant commercial properties in neighborhoods by providing a link between property owners, community members and people with ideas for pop up shops. With a user populated and landlord verified database of vacant properties Pop•a•Shop allows a community to identify underutilized spaces, submit comments on potential uses and current conditions, and provide information on property owners.
Property owners who own a vacant commercial space can see if the local community has added the property to the database. If so, they can verify the information provided, add more details about the property condition, amenities and availability, and review comments from community members. If their property is not in the database, they can add it and help the community start a conversation or invite pop ups to use their space.
By making this information readily available, Pop•a•Shop sets the stage for pop ups to begin filling these vacant spaces to address the needs and interests of the surrounding community.
