POP: Personal Inventory Platform
Inspiration
As avid shoppers, we often find ourselves struggling to keep track of our purchases and inventory. We wanted to build a solution that would streamline this process and make it more fun and interactive. Inspired by the idea of shared economy, we came up with the concept of POP - a personal inventory platform that allows users to borrow and lend items to friends and family in a gamified way.
What it does
POP is a web app that automatically imports products based on inbox receipts or user images using Google Vision's object detection. It converts the amount spent by users to POP tokens, which can be spent borrowing products from friends and family in private shared closets. Users can also earn tokens by loaning out their items. By adding a closet mate, users can instantly 2x their wardrobe. POP promotes a shared economy for consumer products and a gamified personal inventory.
How we built it
We built POP using Wix, Google, and Firebase. We used Google Vision's object detection for importing products and Firebase for authentication. We integrated Google Sheets and CSV for the database. We used Wix to design the user interface, leveraging its intuitive drag-and-drop interface.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was creating a robust data parsing pipeline to ensure accurate product information. We also faced difficulties in integrating automatic email, calendar, and gallery integration. Despite these challenges, we were able to create a functional and engaging platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a platform that promotes a shared economy and encourages users to declutter their closets. We are also proud of the gamified element that makes the process of inventory management more fun and interactive.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned about the power of shared economy and how gamification can make mundane tasks more enjoyable. We also gained valuable experience in working with Google Vision, Firebase, and Wix.
What's next for POP
Our next steps for POP include improving our data parsing pipeline to ensure accurate and consistent product information. We also plan to implement a drag-and-drop card layout for improved user experience. In addition, we aim to integrate automatic email, calendar, and gallery integration to further streamline the inventory management process.
