Inspiration
As student org leaders, we find organizing rides to be very tedious and time-consuming. We hope that this project can automate that process so that we can allot more of our time to planning the fun parts.
What it does
Users are able to add event attendees as drivers and passengers with their locations to the event. Once they hit calculate, the app will display a map with color-coded pins that correspond to the different carpools.
How we built it
Reflex and Python. Original plan was a full-stack web-app but we didn't fully implement a database. Although we still do a lot of data processing behind the scenes.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of documentation, both Reflex and Fetch.ai.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed an app that has the main functionality of what we imagined.
What we learned
Newer technologies can be exciting and rewarding to use, but they have their downsides such as lack of documentation and lack of experience in the community.
What's next for PoolParty
- Refactor code base
- Potentially using Fetch.ai agents to negotiate on behalf of drivers for passengers in their carpools
- Implement a user login system and multi-lobby functionality
