Inspiration

Inspired by the need for capital efficiency in AMMs. Most traditional AMMs require significant liquidity for each trading pair, which is a barrier for smaller providers. Poolarize was designed to overcome this by simulating liquidity for non-main tokens, reducing capital requirements while maintaining effective price discovery and stability.

 What it does

Poolarize is a virtual liquidity AMM that facilitates efficient token swaps with minimal capital requirements. The protocol revolves around a main token and uses virtual pools for other tokens. This allows for cross-token trades and two-step swaps. Pricing is anchored to USD through an oracle system that ensures up-to-date and reliable exchange rates. Key features include automatic price stabilization, arbitrage to address discrepancies, and capital-efficient liquidity provision.

 How we built it

By integrating oracles for real-time USD pricing. Virtual pools simulate liquidity for non-main tokens while the main token holds the actual liquidity. The AMM relies on a modified k=x*y formula that factors in oracle-driven prices to maintain accuracy. Stablecoin pools enhance functionality, enabling precise pricing across the platform.

Built Poolarize using this stack:

  • NEAR Protocol: NEAR Wallet Selector and NEAR Smart Contracts.
  • React and Next.js: For building the frontend.
  • Tailwind CSS: For styling and design.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was designing a mechanism to keep non-main token prices accurate without holding actual liquidity for those tokens. Integrating a reliable oracle system with failsafes against price discrepancies and ensuring scalability were also complex tasks. Balancing liquidity and stability while minimizing capital requirements pushed us to refine the protocol extensively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a unique AMM model that reduces capital requirements without sacrificing accuracy or stability. The oracle system efficiently manages price discrepancies, and the virtual liquidity design makes Poolarize a viable solution for smaller liquidity providers. Additionally, our protocol’s automatic arbitrage feature helps maintain market stability.

 What we learned

  • More deep understanding of AMM mechanics, especially how to balance liquidity and efficiency with virtual pools.
  • Learned about the complexities of reliable price oracles and the importance of built-in safeguards for decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

 What's next for Poolarize

Our next steps focus on empowering ecosystem projects and memetokens projects by enabling them to create and manage their own pools, supporting token swapping with minimal capital requirements. We’ll also expand oracle integrations for quicker price updates, explore automated yield optimization for liquidity providers, and build cross-chain compatibility. Additionally, we aim to complete and launch a user-friendly app on mainnet, offering an accessible experience that drives community adoption and active participation in the Poolarize ecosystem. Additionally, we aim to make Poolarize chain-agnostic, providing a capital-efficient AMM across multiple blockchains to broaden access and support a diverse ecosystem of tokens and communities. Implement bot for checking price gaps.
