Inspiration

The inspiration for this game came from my hunger to be a successful creator on Horizons. I wanted to create a world/game that's showcases my skill, and I wanted to give my character "Pooky the puking unicorn" more life than he already has because I love him and I want everyone have fun with Pooky too!

What it does

Challenges you to be faster than your opponents, and offers the chance to use strategy. It also causes you to have fun!

How I built it

I started building this game by building a prototype of the lobby, brought in an asset of Pooky's head, and ran through the wind with it. I built the majority of the world and made the minor scripting to make myself happy working on it, and then I did the difficult challenge of scripting the actual game itself. Once I finished with that, I added the finishing details.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenges I ran into were scripting the game mechanics and myself. I knew it was out of my area of expertise, and I went through multiple tutorial videos that didn't help, went through template worlds to see what lines of code would help me, and finally found a video that got me to a point to where I was able to piece everything together. Throughout all of that, I acknowledged when I was getting tired and frustrated and took the necessary breaks from it till I was ready for more.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am beyond proud of the whole world. It's my second game, and my first game scripting like this. I achieved my goal, and I continued the life of Pooky! I did it myself and got through the struggle. I'm extremely proud of that.

What I learned

I learned how to script the game and I learned how to manage myself better as a creator.

What's next for Pooky's Snack Break

I’m going to build/convert this world into tri-mesh, as well as make it completely mobile friendly so it's just as fun as it is on the VR. I’m going to perfect the scripting and also convert them to typescript as well as accomplish single player (Practice mode). I also want to figure out how to do custom UI so players can earn the attachables I already have designed.
