Inspiration

I've always loved productivity hacks to help me focus better. Whenever I'm working, I search Google for the first Pomodoro timer I can find to stay focused and avoid distractions. It works, but I wanted to make it more fun and engaging.

What it does

Pomodorich gamifies the Pomodoro technique by rewarding users with virtual money for every minute of focused work. The app includes motivational quotes to keep you inspired, but there's a catch—get distracted and you lose everything, making focus a high-stakes productivity game.

How we built it

I combined the proven Pomodoro technique with gamification mechanics. The app tracks focused minutes, dispenses virtual currency as rewards, and displays uplifting quotes. The core challenge was creating an all-or-nothing system where distractions reset your progress.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was balancing game mechanics with genuine productivity benefits. I needed to create immediate rewards that felt meaningful while maintaining the high-stakes element that makes losing focus truly costly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully transformed a simple productivity tool into an engaging game that makes people want to stay focused. The combination of immediate rewards and high-stakes consequences creates genuine motivation to maintain concentration.

What we learned

Research shows people are more engaged when they receive immediate rewards. Gamification can significantly improve productivity tools by tapping into our natural desire for achievement and progress.

What's next for Pomodorich

Future features could include achievement systems, progress tracking over time, customizable reward systems, and social features to compete with friends on focus streaks.
