Inspiration
Apps that promote productivity with different study techniques, such as the Forest App. Other inspirations include a cozy study game called Virtual Cottage, which immerses you in a motivating study environment.
What it does
Utilizes the Pomodoro study technique to gamify and motivate healthy study habits.
How we built it
Unity, GitHub Desktop
Challenges we ran into
Most of the challenges stemmed from our inexperience with Unity and having higher expectations of our initial $M.V.P.$. Since this was our first Hackathon, the workflow, implementation, and language were unfamiliar and not often covered in our school curriculum.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to make the most of the $24$-hours given to develop our idea into a game despite having spent most of the time learning the Unity engine and learning how to recover quickly under high-pressure work. Another accomplishment to note was that most of our assets were made by our team, from pixel art to the music used in the game.
What we learned
As we continued developing our game, we got more proficient at Unity and began to see certain patterns in our code that helped us develop features faster towards the end.
What's next for PomoDori
Our product is at a very minimal state, but for some of us, it was more than we ever expected to develop for our first time with Unity. As previously stated, we were somewhat ambitious when it came to our initial $M.V.P.$ Features such as progressive boss enemies as you progress, and a cosmetic shop phase between the main gameplay loops.
