We recognized that our heavy use of technology has resulted in difficulties with maintaining attention and discipline when it comes to work. To combat this, we developed the "pomo-do-your-work" device, a mechanical contraption that helps users efficiently complete their tasks and regain their discipline.
The device utilizes gears and rotational blocks to divide 30 minutes into intervals of 1 second, 10 seconds, 1 minute, and 10 minutes. Users work for 25 minutes and then take a break, using this time to play one of our specially designed thinking games for 5 minutes.
This repetition not only improves focus and problem-solving skills, but also makes the task more enjoyable by having something to look forward to.
Our main challenge was getting the stepper motor to provide enough power to turn the gears, but we found a semi-fix by using rotational blocks that can be turned by hand.
Our next steps include implementing a working motor system, adding a sound system during breaks, and developing more games for users to play during their 5-minute breaks.
