Inspiration
As students, we have always strive for a way to increase our focus and productivity, and thus, we all felt in love with the Pomodoro technique. For that, we made Pomate, a website that allows us to do what we have always done manually: start on the Pomodoro timer and go to Youtube to turn on music and whitenoise.
What it does
With Pomate, you can do all of the above with a few simple clicks! With an extremely user-friendly design, you can go on to study however many sessions you want, while enjoying our built-in music and rain whitenoise!
How we built it
With HTML, CSS and Javascript, the project might be simple for most but a high mountain for us. Thus, what we lack in skill, we made up with love and passion and with that, we were able to finish Pomate.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, this is a product that we made for MLH's Hack the Classroom hackathon but were unable to finish on time. Unfortunately, we were facing troubles with many features and codes in the final minutes of the hackathon and only finished 5 minutes after the final submission deadline. Though not finishing where we ultimately aim for, this was our first hackathon and all of us came in knowing borderline nothing about HTML, CSS, Javascript or even how to use Github. This caused us to have a lack of vision, not knowing what ideas can be in our reach. Because of that, the whole journey of this hackathon was a process of brainstorming, coding and learning at the same time for the three of us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Though facing unending number of bugs, ** being able to finish Pomate is our greatest accomplishment*. Having worked nonstop with each other and fueling our passion, we can proudly say * Pomate is our product, and our humble hardwork*.
What we learned
The good thing about not having any knowledge is that anything we learn is new knowledge, thus anything that is related to creating Pomate is what we learned.
What's next for Pomate
The product is far from perfect and due to the submission deadline (though we didn't finish in time with the deadline anyway duh🤔), a lot of features are unfinished, causing us to cut such features last minute. We are absolutely going to continue working on finishing those, as well as adding any suggested features that we find useful.
