Inspiration
We were inspired by the potential of VRF on blockchain to provide a fair, transparent, and secure platform for product lotteries. We saw a problem with the traditional lottery systems, which often lacked transparency and fairness. We also saw the potential for blockchain to minimize the environmental impact of lotteries by enabling better tracking and verification of physical items.
What it does
PolyDraw is a decentralized platform that offers a fair and transparent solution for product lotteries. The platform hosts lotteries of physical items that are tracked and verified on the blockchain. Merchants undergo a verification process, after which they can list their products for lottery. Buyers participate in these lotteries by paying with cryptocurrency. The winner is selected using Chainlink VRF a secure and tamper-proof random number generator, and the item is claimed through a wallet-signing process that verifies delivery before confirming the transaction on the blockchain.
How we built it
The platform is built using Web3, Chainlink VRF, Polygon ID, and smart contracts. Polygon network's low gas fees and fast transactions made it our chosen network. We used Polygon ID for merchant verification, generating Verifiable Credentials for product authenticity. Chainlink VRF was utilized to ensure the randomness and security of our winner selection process. The smart contracts manage product flow, transactions, and lottery results to uphold transparency and security. A mapping algorithm was used to link the random numbers generated to the remaining prizes fairly.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring a fair mapping of the random numbers generated by Chainlink VRF to the remaining lottery prizes. We had to devise a clever solution to make sure that the randomness was preserved while the allocation was fair and efficient.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a unique, innovative platform that addresses the issue of unfair product lotteries. The integration of technologies like Chainlink VRF, Web3, and Polygon ID in creating a solution that is not only fair and transparent, but also sustainable, is an achievement we hold high.
What we learned
Through this project, we have gained valuable insights into the application of blockchain technology in real-world scenarios. We have learned how to leverage different tools and protocols to build a decentralized application, and how these elements interact to ensure the transparency and fairness of our platform.
What's next for PolyDraw
We plan to continue refining our platform, making it more user-friendly, and expanding our merchant base to include a wider variety of products. We also aim to incorporate more sustainable practices into our platform to further reduce the environmental impact of our product lotteries. Finally, we aim to expand our user base and increase adoption by working on partnerships and promoting the benefits of fair, transparent, and sustainable product lotteries.
