PolyCare was inspired by how difficult it can be for students to find help when they are already stressed, especially because resources for food, housing, mental health, financial aid, academics, and other needs are often scattered across different websites and offices. We built PolyCare as an AI-guided resource finder that lets students describe their situation in plain language and receive relevant campus and community support options with practical details and next steps. One of the biggest challenges was making the matcher flexible enough to understand different ways students describe their needs while keeping the results reliable and specific. We also worked on making the interface clear, supportive, and not overwhelming. Through this project, we learned how important data organization, thoughtful UX, and careful AI integration are when building tools for real student needs. In the future, we hope to expand the resource database, add more campus-specific options, improve personalization, and make PolyCare adaptable for more schools and communities.
