Inspiration
We ideated daily apps everybody used, and we ultimately honed down on the tech apps that had a uniqueness to them. We were inspired by Spotify's success in the music industry, revolutionising music streaming and achieving so much innovation in their products.
What it does
Polly is a music streaming service based on Spotify and Shazam. It aims to simplify features and streamlines the user experience with it's bold royal blue UI.
How we built it
We built Polly over the course of 3 days. One day was spent ideating, targeting and discussing why spotify was so successful and doing research on the company. The second day and third day was spent creating the actual product. We split into 2 groups - one doing the frontend and two working on the backend.
Challenges we ran into
All three of us never have done a Hackathon before. We didn't have experience using specific coding languages that were essential to this project, which made it a lot harder to get things done. One person studies Commerce.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our UX/UI is amazing, and we are so happy to see that our product's visuals rivals those of many top companies. Our teammates also pushed themselves to learn a different coding language in such a short timespan. Despite the code not working and many errors, we powered through and are able to deliver an amazing product.
What we learned
We learnt that all of us in the face of pressure are able to build beautiful things, learn new skills and overall have a great time.
What's next for Polly - A music player
Polly will have streamlined UI/UX with functional code, alongside features we want to implement such as Karaoke and Songsearch, features that compete with the major music apps.
