Inspiration
My mom runs groceries like it's a supply chain. I figured since most things she buys are repetitive, all this could just be automated and turned into a workflow which runs either on schedule or on a trigger. This is useful for any business which has to keep inventory and/or for consumers who have regular products to buy which they don't want to spend ages filling out card details for.
What it does
Allows agents to buy anything, track their spending, set spending limits, research products, etc.
How I built it
Used FastMCP 2.0, Gumloop, FastAPI, Rye, Firecrawl, Stripe, x402, and Supabase. Focused on the research -> add to cart -> order -> track workflow first, and then built out additional cosmetic features.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating x402 was extremely new to me (and everyone) since the protocol is about 2 weeks old right now. It's a great idea though, and I'm going to continue building on it because I see massive potential for agentic commerce here.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am contributing to the ever-spinning capitalist wheel. I need no other accomplishments.
What we learned
Gumloop is really freaking cool. Also learned that ASGI specs are extremely annoying when building on FastMCP but figured out the right way to implement it after a while.
What's next for Poltergeist
Trillion dollar market cap obviously
