Inspiration
Social media revolves around consuming content, but opinions are buried in comments, stories, and posts. I wanted to build a platform where opinions are the content—a place where anyone can instantly create, share, debate, and discover perspectives while connecting with people who think similarly (or completely differently).
What it does
Pollzy is a social polling platform where users create and vote on interactive A vs. B polls, compete in head-to-head Duels, challenge friends with Quiz Polls, and discover who they "Vibe" with based on shared opinions.
How we built it
I built Pollzy as a solo founder using React Native and Expo, with Firebase powering authentication, real-time data, storage, analytics, and backend services. RevenueCat handles subscriptions and purchases, AdMob powers rewarded experiences, Stripe Identity verifies users, and OpenAI helps moderate content and generate insights.
Challenges we ran into
Building a social platform from scratch meant solving difficult problems around real-time feeds, ranking algorithms, moderation, spam prevention, and designing monetization that complements the user experience instead of disrupting it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a solo founder, I designed and built the entire platform—from product design and UX to frontend, backend, infrastructure, and monetization. Pollzy is now live on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. I'm especially proud of creating unique social features like Vibe Checks and Duels while taking the app from an idea to a shipped product.
What we learned
Building with real users taught me that rapid iteration consistently beats chasing perfection. User feedback has already shaped many of Pollzy's features and reinforced that monetization works best when it enhances the experience rather than getting in the way.
What's next for Pollzy
With the public launch complete, I'm focused on growing the creator community, improving recommendation algorithms, expanding Vibe Checks, introducing video polls, tournaments, creator subscriptions, and continuing to make Pollzy the place where opinions become social.
