Inspiration

The idea for this project comes from our real life problem. What bin to throw our trash? And this project plans to accomplish exactly that by giving us a response using AI. At first, we thought of making it a mobile app for ease of use, but as a proof of concept, we decided to opt for a website.

What it does

Tell you where to throw your trash. One simple drag and drop of an image or a file upload gives you a response to tell you where to throw your trash.

How we built it

For the frontend, we used Angular and for the AI used, we used OpenAI's API.

Challenges we ran into

Learning how to use and integrate OpenAI's API as well as the typewriter effect seen in the page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to brainstorm effectively and ask opinions about our project to have a better idea. Creating a finished product in less than 24 hours.

What we learned

How to integrate OpenAI's API in our project for image detection, custom fonts as well as a very cool typewriter effect for the mascot Apollo.

What's next for PolloVision

Adding more features for the application to allow for a better user experience. If there's enough interest, we can go back to our initial idea and create a mobile app.
