In an effort to facilitate and automate a common application in microbiology, we wanted to solve a real life issue of counting cell cultures.

What it does

This program allows the user to upload a picture of an agar plate showing bacterial colonies forming units and displays the picture while providing an automated counting of these colonies.

Challenges we faced and Accomplishments we are proud of

We were particularly challenged coming up with the colony counting algorithm. We faced some issues with linking the code made with our own trained dataset with the WebApp. However, we settled on a solution that provides a great user friendly interface that showcases a real life application of microbiology, which we are really proud of, although it is less performant that what we originally planned.
