The idea for Polkadot AI Mesh was born from the convergence of two global trends — AI democratization and decentralized infrastructure (DePIN). Today, AI models depend heavily on centralized clouds, siloed data, and opaque governance. Meanwhile, smart cities and DeFi protocols are generating massive real-time data streams that remain underutilized. We wanted to fix this by creating a multi-chain AI compute and data marketplace that empowers developers, cities, and citizens to collaborate on a shared intelligence layer — while keeping privacy, transparency, and interoperability at the core.
