We are concerned by the rise of Authoritarianism around the world, and wanted to build a tool to help activists keep up to dater with what supporters of authoritarians are building.

We ran into a challenge with scraping YouTube videos for transcripts. Our API requests were being blocked. At first we tried setting up a proxy to get around this, but then we realised that if we ran the program from a local server the requests went through. We're proud of committing to an idea that has the use of tech for social good at it's core, and seeing that through to completion Joe Fennell: We learned that access to scraping information off the open web using API has more obstacles than we thought, and might be a future trend of websites looking to prevent their information being used to train external AI models Joe Fennell: We are well-connected to Competitive Debating Communities in London UK, Kolkata India, and Kigali Rwanda. We would love to move get user feedback on Polititube from these debaters, to see if it helps them stay informed on big issues.

The project uses Elleven Labs Agent as the main user agent interface that has been given a knowladge base in political thinking and contemporary events. It uses gemini to get key points from Youtube videos and allows the user to have discussions with the key points in the videos.
