Inspiration

It all started after the Budget 2022 statement, an important event which could determine the direction of Singapore’s future and Singaporean’s lives. However, we noticed that social media was mostly silent. As we scrolled through social media pages by different ministries that broadcasted its important happenings, we realised that there was little engagement (likes, comments and shares) on the posts. In addition, the posts shared by official government platforms were often unengaging, unrelatable or irrelevant to the youths. We ourselves are passionate about politics and under the importance of awareness of current affairs among youths. Hence, we came up with Political Creators, an initiative to engage and educate youths.

What we learned

We’ve learnt the importance of the theory of the attention economy. With so many things fighting for the attention, time and energy of the youths, it is essential that the government uses relevant tools to engage youths in things that matter the most.

What it does

Political Creators serve as a bridge between youths and complex political issues. They incentivise youths to be interested in politics and are a platform for youths to directly access relevant political content.
