Inspiration

The inspiration behind PolicyPal India came from a real-world problem faced by millions of citizens across India — government schemes exist in huge numbers, but most people either don’t know about them, cannot find schemes relevant to them, or struggle because information is scattered, complex, and often available only in English.

What it does

PolicyPal India is an AI-powered platform that helps citizens easily discover government schemes based on their age, income, occupation, state, and interests. Instead of searching through multiple government websites, users can quickly find relevant Central and State Government schemes related to education, agriculture, jobs, healthcare, business support, welfare, and more in their preferred language.

How we built it

We built PolicyPal India as a modern AI-powered web application focused on accessibility, multilingual support, and smart scheme discovery. The frontend was designed with a responsive and user-friendly interface using modern web technologies, ensuring smooth experience across both mobile and desktop devices. We created a dynamic filtering system that matches users with relevant Central and State Government schemes based on factors like age, occupation, income, category, and state.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was handling the huge diversity of government schemes across different Indian states and categories while keeping the recommendations accurate and relevant. Managing multilingual support was also difficult because the entire platform needed to switch completely into regional languages without mixing English content. Another challenge was building a scalable scheme filtering system that could intelligently recommend schemes based on user profiles like occupation, income, category, and state.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a platform that simplifies access to government schemes for citizens through a clean, multilingual, and user-friendly experience. One of our biggest accomplishments was creating a smart filtering system that can recommend relevant Central and State Government schemes based on user details like occupation, income, category, and location.

What we learned

Through building PolicyPal India, we learned how to design scalable web applications that handle dynamic data, multilingual content, and personalized recommendations efficiently. We gained experience in creating responsive UI/UX, managing large structured datasets, implementing intelligent filtering systems, and integrating real-world features like official link validation.

What's next for PolicyPal India

The next step for PolicyPal India is to expand the platform into a fully scalable government-tech ecosystem that supports all Indian states, union territories, and eventually other Asian countries. We plan to add real-time scheme updates, AI-powered personalized recommendations, voice-based multilingual assistance, advanced eligibility matching, and smarter search capabilities.
