Inspiration

The inspiration for PolicyNavigator AI came from the challenges businesses face in understanding and complying with complex policies, regulations, and laws across different countries. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) often struggle with navigating legal jargon, staying updated on regulatory changes, and managing compliance across multiple jurisdictions. These difficulties can result in costly penalties, inefficiencies, or missed opportunities for global expansion. Our goal was to create a solution that simplifies this process, making legal and regulatory information accessible, understandable, and actionable. By leveraging Chrome’s built-in AI APIs, we aimed to empower businesses with tools to summarize, translate, and simplify policy documents, fostering compliance and operational efficiency.

What We Learned

  1. The Power of Chrome AI APIs: Working with APIs like Summarization, Rewrite, and Translation, we discovered how AI models can transform unstructured, dense policy data into user-friendly insights.
  2. User-Centric Design: Feedback from initial testers emphasized the importance of intuitive interfaces and localized content for users in different regions.
  3. Cross-Border Challenges: Every country has unique legal frameworks. Building a flexible system to accommodate these nuances was a valuable learning experience.

How We Built It

  3. Development: o Built the Chrome Extension using JavaScript and React.js for the frontend. o Implemented backend logic for API integration with Node.js. o Conducted testing using sample legal texts from public government databases.
  4. Testing and Optimization: o Beta testing with a focus group of legal advisors and SMEs. o Iterative improvements based on user feedback.

Challenges Faced
