Inspiration
We’ve all been there — your flight gets canceled, your subscription renews without warning, or a product arrives and isn’t what was promised. That’s usually when people start asking: What are my rights? Can I get a refund? What did I agree to? The truth is, most people only look into their rights after something goes wrong. But by then, it’s often too late. POLICAI aims to change that. Whether you’re booking a trip, subscribing to a service, or making a one-time purchase, we help you understand the terms before you commit — what you’re agreeing to, what happens if the service fails, and what rights you actually have. From travel and tech to subscriptions and shopping, we believe clarity at checkout is the key to more confident, informed decisions.
What it does
POLICAI is a browser extension that uses advanced AI to scan Terms & Conditions, privacy policies, and checkout flows in real time — before users click “I Agree.” It instantly highlights what’s good, what’s risky, and what people usually overlook: hidden fees, auto-renewals, vague refund policies, or aggressive data-sharing clauses. Instead of reading pages of legal text, users get a simple summary in plain language, powered by LLMs.
How we Built it
To bring POLICAI to life, we combined modern frontend technology with powerful AI tools to ensure a seamless and intelligent user experience. We used Langflow to orchestrate the flow of events — from the moment a user clicks “Scan” to the delivery of summarized insights. On the frontend, we built the extension using React, allowing us to create an intuitive sidebar that integrates smoothly into any website without interrupting the user journey. For the AI layer, we leveraged Mistral AI to ingest and interpret complex policy documents. This enabled fast, accurate analysis of legal text, which we translated into clear, actionable summaries using carefully engineered prompts. Together, this stack made it possible to turn walls of unreadable terms into something simple, useful, and empowering — all in real time.
Business Model
We’re starting with a user-first, impact-driven approach — offering POLICAI completely free at launch to show people just how often they overlook critical terms and rights before buying. Phase 1: Free Public Access (Awareness + Trust) Full access to policy scanning, risk alerts, and plain-language summaries at no cost. Our goal: create awareness and establish the habit of checking your rights before committing. hase 2: Prove the Need Once users see how often they almost agree to hidden fees, non-refundable terms, or data-sharing clauses, the need becomes obvious. We'll use user feedback and behavior to fine-tune high-value features.
