Inspiration
We all need to create polls to understand our users or to conclude on something when there is a huge amount of people involved. We wanted to create this process of making polls seamless and also give the users real-time results.
What it does
Poler is a web app that lets you create instant polls and updates the poll results for you in real-time.
How we built it
Poler is built with ReactJS for the front-end, Material UI for the styling, and real-time updating of data is done through Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was to make the UI very user-friendly and to update the polls in real-time. We did a small research to understand the pain points and experience of people creating polls on other platforms, which gave us insights on how we can make our web app better.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even after having all the phases such as user research, design, prototyping, and development before developing the final app, we managed to complete it within a very short time.
What we learned
We learned a lot through this project. Firstly, the research phase where we spoke to people who have used polls and created polls. From the feedback received we noted down points to improve and ranked those features based on priority. Which helped us create the web app in a very short span.
What's next for Poler
We will add some more features such as adding a user profile, storing all your polls in the profile section, then adding more options rather than just the poll questions. We will change the results UI for the poll created into charts and tabular format so that it's easier for them to have a precise result of their polls.
