Inspiration

We wanted to capture the beauty and struggle of relationships… especially when two people are complete opposites. Love, effort, and compromise became our core theme.

What it does

Polarity is a puzzle adventure game where players collect and pair mystical opposites. Each successful offering repairs parts of a magical spaceship, bringing you closer to reuniting with your partner across galaxies.

How we built it

We designed the core mechanics around polarity and pairing. Using simple controls, an “ATTRACT” mechanic, we built the game in Godot with the art and assets found online across various platforms. The entire thing was built using Godot, GDScript, and a TON of coffee

Challenges we ran into

Deciding on a story/idea for the game, we had multiple ideas, and we decided on a path that has more potential Time management… it felt like we had very less time even with the time extension Our teammates got sick, exhausted, burnt out, and some had exams It was also the first time of some members in a game jam so a lot of time was spent in learning than building, but we made through all of it

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to integrate everyone's ideas into one single story We live across different time zones and have a hard time with communication, but we dedicated our time to this to overcome this problem Our group leader created a character even when they’re feeling sick, our programmers worked hard despite their busy schedules and their exams

What we learned

How small mechanics can carry deep symbolism The importance of every role… and what they contributed If it works, don't touch it Your game WILL unexpectedly break when you start thinking everything is fine now Even the small changes matter a lot for the whole picture at the end

What's next for POLARITY

We plan to expand with more levels, new environments (forest, desert, space stations), and co-op mechanics to reflect real relationships. We also want to include a few puzzles and make it more challenging. We’ll also polish art, music, and storytelling.
