Inspiration
I was inspired by the fact that I have many pokemon cards, and I wanted to know how much they were worth. I could just search it online, but I wanted a system that would do the searching for me, leading to PokéValue. This used to be just a value checker, but it evolved to have a search history, real or fake checker, pokedex, and signup.
What it does
PokeValue checks pokemon card values by searching them online on many sites, uses a system to see if a pokemon card is real or fake, and has a pokedex to find pokemon information.
How we built it
I built this with a lot of prompts, and yelling at the AI to fix the error quickly. I used supabase as a database for login and deployed the site to netlify.
Challenges we ran into
I ran to tons of errors, from syntax errors to repeated sign in and sign up errors in supabase, a failed email based password reset (i didn’t have a domain and didn’t see that i get one free in the builder pack) and more. The valuation originally just used premade information instead of actually working like it does now… kind of.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m really proud of how great my site has become.
What we learned
I learned about AI based code writing.
What's next for PokéValue
I want to continue working on this site after the hackathon finishes and use on my pokemon cards. I don’t really have any interest in making this a full scale website, just using it for myself.
