We can all agree that during this quarantine age, we have grown bored out of out minds, yet also stressed. Because of this, we decided to bring the thrilling game of poker, from the casinos, straight into your home computer, solving your entertainment needs.
This project basically runs the game of poker. Fit with a pot, virtual money, and even computer generated players that you will compete against. This game will give you a hand of random cards, and through deception and strategic plays, you can earn yourself a large amount of virtual (not real) money while having loads of fun.
We built this using regular python scripts. No extensions were used. This game will read you the rules and what hands are best. Then it will use dictionaries and random variable assignment to give you and the two computer generated players random cards. You will then be presented with options such as hit, show, and fold. The computer generated players will also have these options. If you chose to hit, the pot grows. If you chose to show, all the cards are revealed, and the program will use a flurry of if statements to determine the winner. The game will continue until you are bankrupt, or have all the money.
Determining the winner was very difficult. To find the proper if statements while still hitting and considering all the variables was insanely difficult. Along with assigning all the cards and making the computer generated players, I would say that was the hardest part and the most challenging.
We are proud f this project in general. It was insanely difficult and we were stuck at many different points. But in the end we made a fun game that would solve your boredom.
We already knew about python and how to use it, however, this project taught us how to use certain tricks and loopholes in the python language that we never would have thought of using before.
The next step would be to animate the game in a casino setting, and possibly make it a website or an app.
