Inspiration

The challenge proposed by GFT during the hackathon caught our attention due to our passion for Pokémon and our curiosity about learning mobile app development. We wanted to take this opportunity to combine technology and creativity, building an interactive tool for all Pokémon fans.

What it does

Our app is an interactive Pokédex that allows users to:

  • View detailed information about all Pokémon.
  • Capture Pokémon and manage a personalized team.
  • Save explored zones within the Pokémon world.
  • Participate in virtual tournaments.

How we built it

We developed the app using Android Studio and the Kotlin programming language. The user interface was designed with Jetpack Compose, allowing us to create a modern and intuitive design. We integrated an API to fetch Pokémon data and manage dynamic features like captures and tournaments.

Challenges we ran into

  • Managing dynamic data, such as captured Pokémon and saved zones, so they could be accessed from anywhere in the app.
  • Designing an interface that was both functional and visually appealing.
  • Integrating multiple features within the limited time of the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Creating a functional Pokédex app in such a short time.
  • Achieving a seamless user experience through an intuitive design.
  • Learning to collaborate as a team and tackle technical challenges together.

What we learned

  • How to use Android Studio and Kotlin to develop mobile apps.
  • The importance of planning features effectively and dividing tasks efficiently among team members.
  • New techniques for UI design with Jetpack Compose.
  • Methods to consume and integrate third-party APIs.

What's next for Pokedex App

We aim to improve the app further by adding:

  • Animations and visual effects to make it more engaging.
  • An online feature for competing with other users.
  • Enhanced multiplayer tournaments and challenges.
