🚀 Inspiration
While platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube cater to visual and short-form creators, poets lack a space where their expressions are truly valued. We created PoeticVerse to give poets and shayari lovers a platform to share, protect, and even monetize their work. The goal is to build a thriving community where written and spoken poetry gets the spotlight it deserves — beyond just likes.

PoeticVerse is a full-featured poetry-first social platform offering:

- 💬 Interact via likes, comments, and follows.
- 📚 Upload free or priced books, with reading access control.
- 🎧 Add or explore audio poems, rent exclusive audio content.
- 🔐 Copyright your content and license it securely.
- 🎓 Host and register for paid workshops, using QR + screenshot verification.
- 🧠 Create and participate in creative challenges.
- 🔍 Explore poets, books, audio files, and more with advanced search.
- 💸 Earn revenue from your content.
🛠️ How we built it
- Frontend: Vite + React (via Lovable)
- Styling: TailwindCSS
- Backend/Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, Storage)
- Image Uploads: Supabase buckets + custom imageUpload util
- Routing: React Router with dynamic user and post routes
- Payments: Manual Google Pay flow using QR and screenshot
- Auth: Supabase email-based auth with custom user data
Pages built: Signup, Login, Home, Add Post, Audio, Books, Workshop, Profile, Search, Explore, Challenges, Settings, Copyright.
🚧 Challenges we ran into
- Designing a unique UI that doesn’t feel like an Instagram copy.
- Ensuring only owners can upload QR codes and approve registrations in workshops.
- Handling manual payments via screenshots securely and privately.
- Building a scalable structure for rental-based audio and book content.
- Displaying role-based views (admin, poet, participant) across pages.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Launched a multi-role, multi-featured platform with monetization and DRM logic.
- Built complex flows like paid workshops and rental audio from scratch.
- Created a new niche for poets — combining tech + literature.
- Laid foundation for real-world monetization via copyright licensing.
📚 What we learned
- Supabase is fast and developer-friendly, but custom role control is a must.
- Poets care about ownership and recognition more than just likes.
- Building trust with creators requires clear licensing & privacy rules.
- Workshop systems need secure and simple payment + approval flows.
