Inspiration
Michael has an anti money laundering company called Quantoflow and he needs to up his content creation game. He already has a blog, but who has time to read in today's attention economy? Also, what if you don't speak English?
What it does
Podcastify takes a URL to your blog, scrapes all the articles, uses gemini to generate a rime compatible script, deepl to translate to different languages, and rime to generate audio. Temporal is used for the backend.
How we built it
We developed Podcastify using: Next.js frontend with Python (Temporal) backend Google Gemini for content processing, Rime for podcast generation, Deepl for translation
Challenges we ran into
Rime kept running out of credits, Apify did not work. DeepL translation does not preserve json structure
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It generates nice podcasts, we got Temporal to work
What we learned
Not all written content works well as audio
